Welcome in Gatternighütte:
In the beautiful Mölltal (Carinthia) lies at 1500 meters a basic mountain cabin with a small restaurant where you can enjoy the local specialities. You can reach the cabin with a car, but of course also by foot or mountain-bike. It’s an ideal place to start and/or end your tours in the surroundings.
For hikers:
- Zagutnigspitz (2734 meters) one of the Seven Summits of the National Park Hohe Tauern. Also suitable for children to climb.
- Arthur van Schmidthaus is an ‘Alps-community’ cabin
- Moosboden, ‘The Pearl of the National Park’
- Kaponigtal is an untouched valley on route to Moosboden
- Pfaffenberger Seeën, for the fanatic hikers
- Giessener Hütte, another cabin of the ‘Alps-community’
- Observe the wildlife, like deer, roe and chamois.
It is possible to stay the night in the Gatternighütte. In the period from half May until half October there is room for 7 persons (3 bedrooms). Outside this period the cabin is only for rent for 8 persons. If you like Nature, peace and rest, then Gatternighütte lies just where you want it! Costs per person per night without breakfast/lunch and diner 12,50 Euro’s (half May – half October)Costs outside of this period are 75,00 Euro’s per day for the entire cabin (bring your sleeping bags!)Route from A 9821 Obervellach:
Towards Pfaffenberg (Zagutnigspitz) pass the Rettungsplatz (Ochenigtunnel) at Gatternighof take the road left up the mountain, and just follow the sings Gatternighütte.
